Interim boss Andy Davies is thrilled with the way the St Neots Town squad is coming together for the 2016/17 season.

Saints have made Histon skipper Rogan McGeorge and Godmanchester Rovers left-back Jonny Hall their first new signings of the summer.

McGeorge impressed against St Neots for a Histon side who were eventually relegated from the Southern League Premier Division last term.

Hall earned rave reviews while helping Godmanchester to a second successive runners-up finish in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division.

Davies said: “We identified Rogan last season as a player we would like to bring in. He played well against us and we're delighted to have him on board.

“He is a ball-winner in midfield, but he also has the ability to play football and the desire to be successful.

“Jonny is another exciting signing. He totally fits the DNA of a full-back at this club. He is young, he is aggressive, he is very good defensively and he also likes to attack.

“I don't envisage him having any problems adjusting to Step 3 football.

“I'm extremely pleased with how the squad is taking shape. We've made a couple of good signings, retained some good players and also have one or two targets to chase.”

Hall could also be joined by two of his Godmanchester team-mates at St Neots next season. Rovers goalkeeper Niall Conroy and captain Taylor Parr have also been offered the chance to stake their claims for a place in the Saints' squad in pre-season.

Saints, who are still to appoint a permanent manager, have also invited Alex Archer, who ended last season as number one, back to the club. Midfielders Josh Dawkin and Charlie Coulson have also been given the chance to impress in the summer.

Captain Tom Ward, widemen Ryan Hawkins and Remy Gordon, midfielder Peter Clark and youngster Dan Hobbs are all tied down for the new campaign.

Lee Clarke is still a part of Saints' plans as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles while Adam Tann, who acted as player/assistant boss for the final few months of last season, and striker Drew Roberts are in talks with club chiefs.

Full-back Brett Longden and midfielder Dan Schiavi have been let go.
