St Neots suffered a sudden-death penalty shoot-out exit from the FA Cup last night.
The Saints went down 6-5 from the spot after a 2-2 deadlock in their second qualifying round replay at Worthing.
They twice led courtesy of a 28th minute Ryan Hawkins strike and Lee Clarke effort midway through the second half.
Clarke then missed from the spot with Saints’ third penalty before goalkeeper Andy Wilton kept out the fifth Worthing effort to send the tie into sudden-death.
Worthing couldn’t take advantage when Tom Ward hit the bar, but they did capitalise when Adam Tann also missed.
The club’s youngsters will be hoping to fare better tomorrow in the second qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup.
St Neots Under 18s entertain AFC Dunstable at the Premier Plus Stadium (7.45pm).
