WOODBRIDGE 1 ST NEOTS TOWN 4 || ST NEOTS Town carried their sparkling league form into the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup with a comfortable win over Woodbridge on Saturday. Saints were roared on by an enthusiastic travelling support as they visited the Ridgeons Premier club, and cruised through to a tie against Mildenhall in the next round. Saints flew out of the blocks, and effectively put the tie beyond Woodbridge within six minutes. Only four minutes in, Liam Harrold flicked on a long clearance into the path of Parys Okai, who tucked a neat finish past the keeper from just inside the area. The early lead did not relax Saints however, and they doubled their advantage just two minutes later when Mickey Hyem freed Lee Bassett to slot home. Woodbridge kept faith in their passing game in search of a foothold in the game, but Saints continued to carve out chances. Harrold had four opportunities before the half hour but he could not add to the tally. One downward header from an Okai free kick drew a fine save from the home goalkeeper. Despite the two-goal cushion, Saints were reminded that Woodbridge would not go down without a fight when Glen Fuff had to intervene with a saving tackle to deny Ben Goddard. Saints keeper Luke McShane was forced into a save, and watched another effort fly just over his ar. Saints added a third goal a minute later when Bassett latched onto a long McShane pass and lobbed the keeper for his second of the afternoon to make it 3-0 at the break. Lomas made a triple substitution in the second half to save players for the league, and Woodbridge began a spirited fightback. McShane was called into action twice, but he could not prevent the home side pulling a goal back through Jordan Seaman. A tactical change swung the game back to Saints and as the game became stretched, the visitors went close through Ian Edge and Hyem. Two minutes into injury time Edge set Shane Fox free in the box and he coolly rounded the keeper to score. Saints face Yaxley at Rowley Park in the UCL Premier at 3pm on Saturday.
