TOMMY Martin is back in action on Friday night with the 19-year-old St Neots boxer hoping to make it five wins out of five since he turned professional last summer.

Martin will face Ibrar Riaz at York Hall in Bethnal Green on the undercard of Nathan Graham's southern area light middleweight title defence against Freddie Turner.

Martin's opponent, a 28-year-old fighter from Blackburn, is very experienced, but has only won four of his 52 bouts.

"Hopefully this will be my last four rounder," said Martin. "I've been asking for more than six from Johnny [Eames, his promoter) but as he says, I am only 19 and he's putting the reins on me a bit. That's not a problem as I'm just getting out there and boxing."

Martin was in stunning form when he beat Kristian Laight in July in front of a packed York Hall and a large contingent of his 'Team Gun' supporters. It is expected that fans of Tommy 'Da Gun' Martin will again make the trip to East London to back up the former St Ives ABC fighter.

He said: "I can't wait. I'm really enjoying training at the minute with my new coach Barry Smith and Johnny.

"It's nice to shake things up a bit, get stuck in with Barry and look at a different way of fighting.

"We've been improving, as shown in the last fight, that's why I think we're going off in the same way this time.

"It was a big improvement the last fight and we haven't been out of the gym since then - I'm learning every day and loving it.

"I don't really know anything about my opponent; to be honest I never look into opponents because I trust my manager, I'm happy just to wait and see on the night."

Tickets for the fight are priced at £35 for standard seating and £60 for a ringside view. They are available from Martin's coach Sheridan Dyer on 07718 783875.
