Manager Ricky Marheineke reckons the capture of Josh Dawkin highlights the progress made by St Ives Town.
The wideman, who has represented Wales at Under 17 and Under 19 level, has left local rivals St Neots Town to sign on the dotted line with his hometown club for their first Southern League Premier Division season.
Dawkin is the fourth new face to arrive at ProEdge Westwood Road this summer following the signings of defender Liam McDevitt, midfielder Tom McGowan and winger Joe Carden.
Marheineke said: “I’m delighted to have attracted someone of Josh’s ability to the club.
“He is a top player at this level and can really help us to kick on. The fact he is a local boy is even more pleasing.
“The fact we have managed to entice him away from a club like St Neots shows how far we have come in a short space of time.”
Dawkin is a product of the Norwich City youth set-up and made three appearances for the Canaries in cup competitions. He also played at Conference level for Kettering, Cambridge United and Braintree Town.
More recently, he has had spells with Cambridge City and Biggleswade before spending the second half of last season at St Neots.
