St Ives Town 6-3 Holbeach United

ST IVES Town surrendered a two goal-lead but roared back to claim the points emphatically in a goal-packed game at Westwood Road.

Ives went ahead on 20 minutes when Tigers goalkeeper Sam Cole’s clearance landed at the feet of Chris Hugill on the right flank, and he returned the ball over the goalkeeper’s head from 30 yards.

The home side pressed with Conor Washington, Scott Fielding and Glen Thrale all going close and Washington flicking a cross against the bar, though St Ives keeper Niall Conroy-Owen had to tip over a Mitchell Griffiths free-kick.

St Ives went two up after 35 minutes, Ozie Foster’s through ball played in Washington who cut past two defenders before slotting home.

Holbeach cut the deficit on 39 minutes, as Griffiths fire home from the spot after Dan Newman brought down Nick Brown.

The Tigers were level four minutes into the second half, as Shaun Keeble volleyed home a cross from close range.

They went ahead on 67 minutes, when Keeble poached his second after Griffiths’ shot was blocked.

Washington tap-in following a defensive mistake brought Ives level with 15 minutes remaining, and they turned on the afterburners to tie up the points.

After 78 minutes, Hugill got his second. Co-manager Warren Everdell – making a rare first-team appearance – fed Ricky Dear, whose cross was spilled, and Hugill smashed home.

Scott Fielding nodded in Washington’s cross on 83 minutes, and Foster completed the scoring with a last minute header from a Washington corner.
