Saints conceded in the first minute of stoppage time at the end of the second half as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Ware. They had hit the front courtesy of a 10th minute own goal, but failed to take opportunities to increase their advantage before being stung late on. Manager Ricky Marheineke, whose side remain third, admitted: Our performance deserved three points, but we only came away with one. We should have been further ahead which wouldnt have given Ware the chance to nick a draw. It is frustrating to fall short so late in the game and it felt more like a defeat than a draw. St Ives are back in action on Friday night when they entertain higher-level Kettering Town in an FA Trophy tie at ProEdge Westwood Road (8pm).
