Rovers were beaten 6-5 by Deeping Rangers in a penalty shoot-out which went to sudden death following a 2-2 quarter-final deadlock. Olly Emsden and Austen Diaper both saw their spot-kicks saved by home goalkeeper Danny Bircham after Niall Conroy had kept out Deepings first effort. Defeat was harsh on Rovers who had twice clawed their way level and dominated much of the game despite having key men missing. They were caught cold as Charlie Coulson put the hosts ahead early on, but Mike Hyem restored parity with a peach of a free-kick midway through the opening period. Rovers fell behind again in the final attack of the first half as Matt Carter struck for Deeping and thats the way it stayed until the dying moments. Home defender Tom Carter was dismissed for collecting a second caution when scything down Tom Meechan and Hyem made no mistake when lashing in the resulting free-kick to level. But the tie was settled from the spot as Rovers bowed out. Huntingtons scheduled United Counties League Premier Division clash at home to AFC Kempston Rovers was postponed last night due to an unplayable Jubilee Park pitch.
