Ridgeons League Division One Godmanchester Rovs 0 Halstead 6 ROVERS got 2008 off to a nightmare start when they capitulated in the second half at Bearscroft Lane, conceding five goals. Disappointed manager Karly Hurst said: "The players let themselves down. There can be no excuses for conceding five goals in a second half, the lads seemed to stay in the dressing room after the break." Visitors Halstead moved up to fifth place in the table with the win - a reverse of the result that saw Rovers win 1-0 at Halstead only six games earlier. The first half was fairly even with Godmanchester creating good chances for both Jon Brierley and Lee Boon that went unconverted and playing with a good deal of confidence with the scores even. However, things took a dramatic change just before the break when Halstead took the lead from a cross before the break and the second half was one-way traffic, though Steve Thompson missed a chance for the home side. Hurst said: "We are a far better team than was on show today, we had suspensions and injuries but they cannot be used as an excuse." # Rovers go to mid-table Whitton on Saturday.
