Ridgeons League Division One Godmanchester Rovers 1 Diss Town 5 ROVERS boss Karly Hurst admitted his side had been outplayed by high-flying Diss at Bearscroft Lane. A strike on 16 minutes from Lee Boon brought the home side back into the game at 2-1, but the visitors soon showed their class. It was Ben Deacon who gave Diss the lead after just six minutes and Stuart Jenkinson doubled that lead when he grabbed the second five minutes later. Godmanchester bounced back when Boon played a clever one-two with Steve Thompson to pull a goal back for the home side and give Hurst some encouragement. However, Deacon was again allowed room on 30 minutes to score his second goal as Diss re-opened their two-goal advantage. Godmanchester weathered the storm until half-time with neat, passing football that saw both Boon and Steve Thompson shoot wide when conversion of those chances could have levelled the scores. After the break Diss were the more composed team and they added further goals from Alan North and Deacon, who completed his hat-trick just after the hour. That completed the scoring but Godmanchester refused to give up with both Thompson and Stephen Hurst - with a rasping 30-yard effort - having chances to reduce the deficit before the final whistle. Manager Hurst said: "They were the best side we have played this season, their experienced players punished almost every mistake we made. Rovers, who visit mid-table Clacton on Saturday, are now seven league games without a win.
