Wanderers took the lead half way through the first half with a counter-attack. Rovers pressed hard and dominated the game but were unable to find an equaliser and went in a goal down at the break. The home side doubled their lead shortly after the interval with a far post header from a free kick. The Bearscroft Lane side did not lose spirit and kept pushing forward, and Steve Thomson scored 20 minutes from time to halve the deficit. Karl Hurst's men kept pushing forward and Adam King came close for the visitors as they began to take command. They then equalised 10 minutes from time when Neil Morris scored completing a move that started with several passes from the midfield. With time left on the clock Rovers could have grabbed a late winner, but some superb saves from the Ipswich goalkeeper kept them out and ensured the points were shared.
