GEORGE and Dragon Reserves fought back from two goals down against RH Lions to win the Steve Thresh Memorial Cup 5-2 on Sunday. Lyndon Staples and Ryan Doherty had given Lions the advantage but two strikes inside a minute by Saleem Jabber and Scott Kingsbury saw the teams level at the break. Lions keeper David Harrison kept his side in the match with three good saves but as extra-time loomed Robert Pither put Dragon ahead. Michael Peach and Scott Kingsbury iced the cake with two late goals as Dragon took the silverware. It was drinks all round at the Lord Protector as their Sunday team won the St Neots and District League with a resounding 8-1 win against Catworth FC. In the Kershaw Premier League bottom club Needingworth suffered a mauling at Fulbourn as the home side ran out 9-0 winners. In the same division, Eaton Socon had to settle for a point from a 2-2 home draw against Cottenham. Elsewhere, Great Paxton took a good point against Cherry Hinton in a 2-2 draw and Somersham shared the points in a 1-1 draw against Hardwick. Brampton were less fortunate, losing 2-1 at RHS United. Bluntisham Rangers were on the wrong end of a 7-1 score line against West Wratting, while Buckden and St Ives Rangers contested a 0-0 draw. Hemingfords United Reserves were well beaten 5-0 by Elsworth Sports and Fenstanton visited Lakenheath for a 4-1 defeat. Ramsey failed to get the better of lowly Oundle as they scratched out a 2-2 draw in the Peterborough Premier, and it was a bad day for Alconbury who lost 4-0 at home to Pinchbeck. Warboys continued to ease away from the foot of Division One with a solid 4-2 win over Werrington, and Alconbury Reserves won 3-2 at home to Netterton. Sawtry Reserves turned in a good performance to win 3-1 against neighbours Stilton Reserves.
