St Neots and District Sunday League Premier Division George & Dragon 0 Riverside Rangers 7 RANGERS sealed the Premier League title with an exciting display of football that saw them score seven unanswered goals to beat their nearest rivals and complete their first double. The match started slowly, with neither team able to break the stalemate in the first half an hour. Steve Hurst broke the deadlock, hitting the target after a floated cross into the box from Paul Bass. Bass added a goal of his own ten minutes later after a poor clearance and then made it 3-0 just before half-time with another fine strike. Rangers maintained their dominance in the second half, scoring not long after the interval when Brian Francis fired home an Adam Green through-ball. Francis was on hand minutes later to notch up his team's fifth goal with a cool finish. Rangers didn't let up. Hurst scored his second with a superb 25-yard drive and the final goal came after Carl Foreman was brought down in the box. Substitute Matty Renshaw scored from the resulting penalty. Manager Tony Jeffries was delighted with his team's performance: "This was without doubt the best team performance I've seen since taking charge of the club. "What a way to clinch the title, with seven goals. It was breathtaking," Jeffries said.
