THERE was penalty heartache for Sawtry U12s as they lost out in the final of the Hunts U12 County Cup, on Sunday. Despite producing some of their best football of the season, Sawtry couldn't find a way past Stanground, who edged the decisive shoot-out. Sawtry boss Tim Alban said: "Obviously, we are disappointed about the result but the lads raised their game for the big occasion and played some great football." Alconbury THE first Sunday kick-off for Alconbury U11s went with a bang as they defeated Godmanchester B 6-1. Jack Mace scored twice with MOTM Ciaran Quigley, Charlie Lawford, Andrew Hall and regular goalkeeper Luke Upshall all netting. Bluntisham Rangers A TIGHT contest saw Rangers and St Ives Rangers M share the spoils with a 2-2 draw. MOTM Dean Worrall and Rowan Wilson gave Bluntisham the lead but St Ives battled back. Four crazy minutes saw Bluntisham U11s lose 4-3 to St Neots Saints. Dominic Gowland scored a second-half hat-trick but by that time Rangers were already four down after conceding two goals in a pair of two-minute spells. Michael Rowden blasted the winning goal as Rangers U12s defeated Histon Hornets 3-2. Tom Jug and Matthew Worrall were the other goalscorers. Two goals from Dan Sterna clinched a 2-1 win for the U15s against Histon Hornets. Luke Robinson made a great reflex save to deny the visitors. Brampton Spartans A THRILLING game saw Brampton U11s come out on the wrong side of a 6-5 defeat to Godmanchester C. Jools Arts opened the scoring for the home side after 17 seconds and the free-scoring pattern continued. Jonathan Wrycraft, Arts again and two from Jake Hays completed the home side's scoring but it wasn't quite enough. Meanwhile, the U11s cruised to a 5-1 win against Needingworth. Jordan Porter was the four-goal hero as Spartans dominated the game. Buckden BETH Robinson was named player of the match as Kestrels U12 Girls earned a 4-2 win against Heelands Rangers. Although they didn't play their best football, goals from Georgie Goodwin, Abby Wright, Sarah Palmer and Hannah Allen secured the victory. Buckden U13s ran riot against Cottenham, coming out 14-1 winners. James Horne won MOTM while Joe Pengelly and Josh Ling netted hat-tricks. There were two goals for Matt Carpenter and one each from Josh Owen, Ben Salmon, Harry Buchanan, Rhys Williams, Joe Smith and Tom Gosschalk. Eaton Socon RYAN Baxter blasted a hat-trick as Eaton U14s romped to a 9-0 victory against Huntingdon Rowdies. Jack Truett chipped in with two goals, with Jack Kircher, Rob Melanie, Kieron Dawson and John Woods the other players to find the target. Eaton U11s made a good start to their match at Graveley, with Tom Wise putting his side into a 1-0 lead. However, the home side came back to win 3-1 with Taylor Matherson winning MOTM for Eaton. Godmanchester Rovers FOUR goals from Matt Allen helped Goddy U9s cruise to a 13-0 victory against St Ives U9P. Greg Goodwin, Lewis Gabb, Joss Gwynn and Ellis Ogle all scored twice with a late strike from MOTM Matt Leggett completing the victory. The U13C side lost out 4-2 to Haverhill Rovers. Fraser Gant gave his side the lead and Harry Darer scored an equaliser while Gordan Clark was named MOTM. Harley Green scored a late consolation for Goddy U11B as they went down 6-1 to Alconbury. Tim Gladding and Chris Smith were the standout players. Rovers U11C were on the right end of an 11-goal thriller against Brampton. Kasey Nicholson scored five times to earn himself the MOTM award with Scott Johnson netting from a corner to complete the scorers. After a month off, a slightly rusty Goddy U8 came out 3-1 winners against Priory Parkside. James Osbourne scored twice with Alfie Toseland grabbing one and Grady Bruce picking up MOTM. Graveley GRACE Stanley scored a hat-trick to win MOTM as Graveley U9 Reds cruised to a 6-2 victory at Brampton Spartans T. Jamie Rossiter scored twice and goalkeeper Lewis Maude scored from a goal kick to complete the scoring. Meanwhile, the U11 Reds team triumphed 3-1 at home to Eaton Socon. Ben McConnell cancelled out Eaton's opener and added a second after the break to put Graveley ahead. David Hall scored a penalty to complete the win with Ian Donald named MOTM. Great Paxton GOALS from Morgan Thomas and Freya Page weren't quite enough for Paxton U8s as they went down 3-2 to a determined Buckden side. Meanwhile, the U9s continued their good form with a 4-1 victory against Godmanchester. William Whitney scored a hat-trick with Robbie McGraw grabbing the other and Jake Smith picking up MOTM. Huntingdon Rowdies GOALKEEPER Richard Brandon won MOTM as Rowdies U13s saw off Hardwick Harriers 3-2. Lewis Hammond, Adam Naylor and Joey Nicholson were the goalscorers. The U15As defeated top-of-the-table rivals Needingworth 7-2. Wayne Childerley scored four times as Rowdies dominated. Joe Furness scored twice with a Josh Sadler wonder-goal completing the scoring. Neil Macphee was named one of the outstanding players. Needingworth ALEX Cook's goal couldn't prevent Needingworth U11As losing out 5-1 to Brampton Spartans. Ben Rittel picked up MOTM for his efforts. Goal machine Innes Christison scored twice as Needingworth U12s came away 7-3 winners against Great Paxton. Alex Holland scored twice for a share of MOTM with defender Luke Bacon. Stephen Strickland, Charlie Wood and Sam Wood were the other scorers. Priory Parkside ALTHOUGH they were defending a 100 per cent record, a strong Rowdies performance left Parkside U11A defeated 3-1. Ryan Barnett whipped in a free-kick to equalise but Huntingdon emerged victorious. Josh Benson blasted five goals as Parkside U13A clinched an impressive 12-0 victory against Mildenhall Town B. Felix Woolf and Liam Nicholson both scored twice, while Danny Walton, Ryan Worboys and MOTM Joe Dawborn were the other players on target. A late goal from Liam Hemming kept Priory U14A on top of the league with a 2-1 victory against St Ives Rangers. The visitors took the lead in the third minute but Arran Mackay scored with five minutes remaining before Hemming sparked wild celebrations on and off the pitch. Parkside U9R got back to winning ways with a 5-1 win at Ramsey B. Jordan Saywell smashed a hat-trick, Reece Keating and Ryan Wood also scored and Aaron Rymer was MOTM. Priory U8A defeated their C team counterparts 2-0 in a friendly. Alex O'Hara and Josh Unwin scored the goals as Parkside triumphed. Harry Dalrymple scored a late goal for Priory U8B but Godmanchester stole the game with two goals in the last five minutes to seal a 3-1 win. Goals from Gareth Ekins, Shaun Flack and Danny Cain ensured Priory U13C earned a 3-0 victory against Chatteris. Jacob Tose scored for Priory Parkside U12B as they went down 2-1. Ramsey A FANTASTIC day for Ramsey U11 saw them clinch the Cambridge Colts League Cup Final against Histon Hornets. With 15 minutes to go Kyle Ferrier blasted the winner to clinch the cup triumph - see team picture on P147. Ramsey U12A claimed a 3-1 victory against Ely Crusaders. Oliver Bailey scored twice with Elliot Cafferkey adding another to complete the win. Ryan Crawt scored a brace in Rams U12B's 10-4 defeat to Burwell. Joshua Eyre and Jack Gower were the other goalscorers. There were seven players on target in the U13s' 8-1 win against Fordham. Adam Ray scored twice with one apiece for Tee Mash, Daniel Moulds, Louis Shepherd, Thomas Heyes, Myles Hyndeman and Oliver Day. Adam Wright picked up MOTM. Charlie Jenkins scored four times for the U6 side but they still lost out 6-4 to Warboys. Meanwhile, the U7As won 7-2 against Somersham Orange. Jamie Short scored five times with one each for Ollie Stevens and Matthew Walker. Rams U9A won 4-1 at Priory Parkside F thanks to James Tortice, Zak Stevens, William Taylor and Bradley McManus. Meanwhile, Daniel Wing bagged the consolation for the Rams U9B as they went down 5-1 to Priory Parkside R. Sawtry DESPITE some excellent individual performances and a man of the match effort from defender Alex Parker, Sawtry U11 Yellows lost out 2-0 to Crowland. Somersham MATTHEW Ordish and Sam Jackson found the net against league leaders Ramsey Colts A, but the U7s still slid to a 7-2 defeat. Jordan Meads picked up MOTM. St Ives Rangers A HAT-TRICK from MOTM Rory Simmons helped Rangers U8S to a 5-1 victory against Brampton Spartans. Adam Roberts and Callum McDuffus were the other scorers. A double strike from Mark Walker helped the U12A side to a 4-1 win against Spartak. Dan Jackson and Charlie Snell were the other names on the scoresheet. A solitary goal from Doulton Kingston handed St Ives Rangers U12B a 1-0 victory at Aztec Juniors B. Calum Ross won MOTM. Rangers U14 Girls battled back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Sutton. Holly Knott scored twice and Sophie Luckhurst bagged the other as St Ives claimed a share of the spoils. Aaron Price worked hard but could not stop the U9P's going down to a heavy 13-0 defeat against Godmanchester. The U9M side drew 2-2 with Bluntisham Rangers thanks to two goals from MOTM Cameron Pollock. Rangers U10R battled hard but lost out 4-0 to Whittlesey in the quarter-finals of the U10 cup. Five goals from Connor Withers helped the U13A side to a 10-0 win at Brampton. Anthony Oliver scored three goals to win MOTM with Cameron Stephen and Joel Lask the other players on target. St Neots ALTHOUGH they went 2-0 down, Town U10 Whites battled back but still lost out 3-2 to Bishop's Stortford Rovers. Lewis Davis scored twice to win MOTM. Matthew Allen scored a consolation goal but it wasn't enough for St Neots U10 Blues as they lost 4-1 to Bishop's Stortford. Dominic Smith won MOTM. Warboys DESPITE playing with only 10 players, Warboys U11s triumphed 2-1 against Bar Hill. Charlie Naylor and Michael Shoesmith netted with Johanna Naismith named man of the match.
