EYNESBURY Rovers crashed to a third consecutive defeat at Northampton ON Chenecks on Saturday. The visitors had the first chance and Peter Collins' shot was blocked for a corner after two minutes, but after that Chenecks dominated play for the rest of the half. Justin McKenzie had a shot tipped over the bar by Dave Beeny and Andy Clare cleared a goal-bound header off the line. McKenzie then shot inches wide and Jamie Nuttall lobbed Benny but the ball was cleared off the line. The hosts finally took the lead after 34 minutes as Eynesbury failed to clear a corner to allow Nuttall to blast home from inside the six yard box, and Beeny kept to deficit to one at the interval with a fine save from a Steven Blackwood shot. The visitors came out strong after the break as Beeny saved well from Blackwood and Scott Kingsbury tested the home goalkeeper twice with long range shots. Dan Tyler fired over the bar from close range and Jamie Graham twice shot across the face of the goal. After 72 minutes McKenzie was dismissed for an attempted head-butt to Craig Pickstone. The visitors pressed hard for an equaliser as Tyler again missed a good chance and Graham shot over the bar in the last minute. Eynesbury Rovers have lost their last three league games after having only lost that number all season before. They next play Huntingdon Town at Jubilee Park tomorrow (Tuesday) before they host Olney Town at Hall Road on Saturday.
