Eynesbury were involved in a goalless draw for the first time in more than a year last Saturday.

Rovers battled out the Hall Road blank against Desborough Town in the United Counties League Premier Division - the same opponents as they faced in their previous 0-0 stalemate on November 5, 2016!

Jordan Brown and Craig Smith both forced visiting goalkeeper Chris Jones into early saves before debutant Matt Clifford fired inches wide. Midfielder Clifford is the latest Eynesbury arrival after joining from higher-level Bedford Town.

The two teams continued to create chances in the second half, but neither side was able to manage a breakthrough.

The closest Eynesbury came to finding the net was when leading scorer Dom Lawless was denied by Jones before Smith's follow-up was blocked by a defender.

Rovers were dealt a blow by the loss of influential defender Steven Gentle to injury in the closing stages.

The former St Ives Town promotion-winner is now rated as doubtful for a Hinchingbrooke Cup tie against lower-level Raunds Town on Tuesday night.

Rovers' next Premier Division assignment is a trip to Wellingborough side Whitworths on Saturday ahead of a re-arranged date against Deeping Rangers on Tuesday, November 28.

That fixture was initially scheduled for last week (November 14) but had to be postponed due to an electrical fault affecting some of the Hall Road floodlights which has now been rectified.
