The club announced on Tuesday night that businessman Kevin Hull would be taking over the role for current incumbent Lee Kearns. Mr Kearns will continue with the day-to-day running of the club in his capacity as owner but said that he and the Saints committee felt a new chairman was needed in order to drive the club forward. Mr Hull, who is managing director of a financial advisors, based in Eaton Socon, will take over the role on October 1. Mr Hull said: One of my colleagues, Gary Wilson, has been involved with the club for the last three years and I have been impressed when listening to him talk about the long term aims and aspirations of the club. Building a community club with the support of the local area is the only way to ensure long term success. Therefore, I was really honoured to be asked to become involved with what Lee, Iain, and the committee are striving to achieve and feel privileged to have been asked to become the first elected chairman. Having lived in St Neots since the age of seven I am pleased to offer my full support in helping the club push on to the next stage and achieve its true potential, not just with the first team but also with the academy and the wider community. Mr Kearns added: We now have the final piece of the jigsaw in place. It was never my intention to become chairman of the football club however with the previous chairman stepping down a little earlier than anticipated the honour became mine at least for a short while. Ive always believed that the blueprint for a successful and stable business is to have a collective of individuals who are capable of matching the clubs own long term ambitions, therefore as the new owner of St Neots I felt that it would be in the best interests of the club to search for a respected, successful and most importantly, a local St Neots businessman or women, to help us to continue to take the club into the community and to help us to engage with local, like minded businesses. Kevin Hull has all of the qualities myself and the committee were looking for and more besides.
