UCL Premier Division St Neots Town 1 Long Buckby 3 A DISAPPOINTING display from the home side left St Neots on the end of their first defeat in 10 matches. Strangely, Saints are unbeaten away from home in the league this season but have come unstuck on three occasions in front of the Rowley Park faithful. The visitors, in their garish orange kit, dominated proceedings and prolific forward Ben Foster added two more to his tally. A slow start saw neither side create much until Foster popped up to volley past Jon Chatfield in the home goal. Despite the setback, Saints' hard-working top scorer Barrington Belgrave made his mark with another goal to bring his side back into it. Belgrave chased down a badly-struck back pass by Darren Harmon and got enough of a touch on the ball to squirm it past goalkeeper Paul Shepherd. Gary Watts and Belgrave then both missed opportunities before the break as Saints ended the half on top. Long-term injuries to Mark Burrows and Tony Russell flared up again and the duo had to be replaced, allowing Buckby to take advantage. Chatfield was forced into a fine save from a Jason Lee effort on 72 minutes but from the same player's corner Carl Holmes was allowed too much space to find the net. Victory was secured five minutes later when Foster capitalised on a poor clearance from Mark Barry to drill past Chatfield. The margin of defeat could have been even worse but for Chatfield making a diving save after his own mis-hit clearance. Frustration bubbled over for Saints as Ashley Deverall and Belgrave picked up cautions for dissent on a disappointing day for the hosts. n Saints welcomed Potton United as The Hunts Post went to press, and Northampton Spencer are the visitors to Rowley Park on Saturday.
