The local football community is mourning the loss of a respected figure.

Former Hunts FA chairman and director Jim Bremner, who was a council member of the county association for more than 30 years, passed away last Sunday following a battle with cancer. He was 82.

Bremner enjoyed a playing career in North London before qualifying as a referee in this area in 1973.

He became involved in the administration of the game during the same year when taking on the role of secretary at Huntingdon Cavaliers.

Bremner went on to serve both the Hunts Football League and West Anglia League - acting as secretary for the latter competition for more than a decade from 1985 to 1996.

He was also a founding member of the Huntingdonshire Mini Soccer League in 2000.

Bremner was elected as a Hunts FA director in 2004 and held the post until 2012. He also enjoyed a stint as chairman between 2007 and 2010.
