The clubs first team and Development sides both collected Cambridgeshire Womens & Girls League victories at the One Leisure Outdoor Complex in the town. Katie Stancombe hit a hat-trick as Darren Marjorams first team beat Cambridge City Development 3-1 to follow up an extra-time cup triumph against the same opponents the previous weekend. The 16 year-old hot-shot broke the deadlock with a classy lob, but it was cancelled out by the visitors just before the break. Stancombe restored the advantage five minutes into the second half with a cool finish before sealing victory with 11 minutes to go. Stancombe raced past three defenders during a run from inside her own half before slotting home. And the new Development team continued their impressive start to life in the Championship South with a 2-1 victory against Cambridge Rangers. Lisa Triggs ladies trailed at half-time, but they turned the contest in the second half thanks to goals from new signing Emilee Steel and Jade Carpenter. Steel, who is also an accomplished cricketer, shared the player-of-the-match accolade with 16 year-old goalkeeper Sophie Marjoram, who excelled with two super saves before her side hit the front. Defensive duo Georgie Astley and Molly Berryman were also saluted for their performances and the way they assisted less experienced team-mates. Manager Trigg said: Wins in our first two games is a great effort and long may it continue. The most pleasing thing is the attitude of the squad and how they support each other. It is easy to lose your head when a game is not going your way - especially if you feel you deserve to be ahead - but the players only thought about what they could control. They focused on themselves and their team-mates, and that is why they came away with the win. St Ives Town Ladies squads . . .
