UCL Premier Division --- Blackstones 2-1 St Ives Town --- ST IVES Town's long winning run came to an end on Saturday as they failed to make the most of their chances against a clinical Blackstones side. With a 100 per cent record away from home in the UCL, St Ives were favourites against opposition that had lost five of their last 10 games, but poor finishing cost them dearly. Co-manager Warren Everdell rued the missed chances: "We had enough of the game for a share of the points but failed in front of goal. But it happens sometimes, and now we have to start building another run of results. Avellino Vieira's 24th-minute opener for Blackstones was cancelled out a minute before the interval by Ricky Dear's reply for St Ives. Ives wasted a hatful of chances in the second half and Adam Scotcher's goal four minutes past the hour mark clinched the win Blackstones. St Ives faced Godmanchester last night (Tuesday) in the Hinchingbrooke Cup as their busy Christmas schedule begins. Everdell added: "We have the FA Vase and other cup matches to look forward to, so it'll be a busy time, but at present the matches are not proving a burden to the squad. "We are still looking for a top two finish in the league, despite this setback." Saints host S&L Corby on Saturday at 3pm.
