Manager Steve Jeffs insists his Houghton & Wyton men are underdogs in the Division 2B title race ahead of a top-of-the-table showdown this Saturday.

H & W go to leaders Fenstanton for a showdown which will have a big bearing on the destination of the Division 2B title.

Jeffs' men, chasing a fourth successive promotion, are two points adrift of their hosts, but they have a match in hand.

He said: "I won't go as far as calling it a title decider as there are plenty of games to go, but it is obviously very important.

"We will go there full of confidence after a good result against Brampton Reserves last Saturday, but I think Fenstanton are favourites for the title due to the fact most of their side were Division One players last year."

Marc Puckering, Bozo Saso and Adam Spratt hit the goals as Houghton & Wyton triumphed 3-0 at Brampton Reserves last weekend.

Meanwhile Fenstanton dropped a couple of valuable points in controversial fashion when being held to a 2-2 draw by bottom side Bluntisham Rangers Reserves.

Ben Fuller and Salv Merola hit the goals for the table-toppers who were pegged back by a hotly-disputed penalty before a last-gasp Merola goal wiped out for an offside decision against a player not involved in the passage of play.

Fenstanton player-boss Adam Buckingham said: "Both sets of players were shocked by the penalty decision - and the one to disallow the winner late on was strange to say the least."
