The May Day Bank Holiday weekend is set to begin with a bang at Huntingdon Racecourse.

The local track stages a first evening fixture of the year on Friday and plenty of competitive racing is assured.

A seven-race card, which gets underway at 4.40pm on the penultimate day of the National Hunt season, has attracted more than 100 entries.

Paul Nicholls and Nicky Henderson, who are vying to be crowned the country's champion jumps trainer, have entered five horses between them.

Huntingdon Racecourse general manager Liam Johnson said: "We're looking forward to the first of our two evening racing fixtures of 2017.

"With adult tickets available in advance for just £10 - and accompanied children admitted free of charge as always - we're offering a real value-for-money start to the May Day Bank Holiday Weekend."

Friday is the latest #GoRacing Day at the racecourse, when there is one set advance admission price with a 33% saving. Adult admission is just £10 in advance (£15 on the day) - available online at http://huntingdon.thejockeyclub.co.uk or on 0844 579 3007. Accompanied under 18s are, as always at Huntingdon, given free entry.
