UCL Premier Division Deeping Rangers 2 St Ives Town 3 SAINTS are finally on the up after two wins in a week which saw their forwards click into gear. Thats according to co-manager Jez Hall, who said he expects his team to start climbing the league from their current xth position. Saints dispatched Potton United 3-0 in the Hinchingbrooke Cup in midweek, serving up their first home win in x games thanks to two goals from Matt Bannister and a Shane Fox strike. They then carried the same form up to Deeping, where they took a 3-0 lead before being pegged back by a dubious penalty and last-minute consolation. I feel like our forwards have finally clicked and started scoring, and were creating a lot of chances, said Hall. Against Potton I counted about 30 goalscoring opportunities, so in fact we should have taken more of them. It was a bit of a mauling, and they were probably lucky to get away 3-0. We did the same against Deeping, and it was a shame the shine was taken off the result with their two goals. Saints went three goals to the good before the break through Fox, Scott Fielding and David Cobb, netting against his former team. However, a harsh penalty decision gave Deeping hope, and they snatched a consolation goal in the final minute. Hall said: Their second goal was a farce really their forward was the only man in the six-yard box. The referee apologised afterwards, but it made the match look closer than it really was. Weve taken a few games to get going this season, but I expect us to start putting together the results now. Were only a couple of points away from where we need to be. N Saints host Market Harborough in the League Cup at 3pm on Saturday.
