THE first half an hour at Cogenhoe was tricky. We knew it would be that sort of away fixture but, from it being 1-1 after 30 minutes, weve managed to get two goals before half time. And then three in the space of four minutes just after half time and we found ourselves 6-1 up and on our way to a really comfortable victory. Its also really good that weve now come through the last three league fixtures without Stefan Moore, who has been suspended. We didnt sign a striker, but the depth of the squad weve got means we also werent short and ended up winning all three games comfortably. I also think having had a full weeks rest with no game last Tuesday certainly paid off, especially in the second half, as we looked a lot stronger. Once again the goals were shared out through the team, which has been the case for most of the season. We worked really hard on our set pieces - and our defensive players are a big part of that - so its no surprise we also get goals from that area. That showed again on Saturday with Will Fordham scoring and proves weve got a goal threat from pretty much everywhere. That stems, I feel, from the consistency weve had this season in terms of the squad. We started the season with an 18-man squad and have still got 13 of those here. People looking at us from the outside may think weve had a mass turnaround of players but, generally, it has only been in positions that we havent been happy with namely the full-back positions. But the mainstay of the squad has been here from the start. Obviously Tolley and Stefan came in a few games after the start but, if you look at the first team sheet against Northampton Spencer back in August, we had the likes of Jacob, Hilliard, Kanuda, Webb, Fordham and McShane on it.
