This week’s Greene Shoots column, which the St Neots manager wrote before his side’s 4-0 home win against Leighton on Tuesday night, sees Dennis Greene insisting his side will get their slice of luck at some point this season.

IT'S about time we had our slice of good luck - but I know it's coming so I'm not too worried. Obviously, the season is about 46 games, not just a few, and at some stage we'll get a couple of decisions go our way and maybe win a few games that otherwise we might have struggled to.

I'm not blaming refereeing decisions entirely for our losses at Billericay in the FA Trophy or Slough Town in the league last Saturday - but it is true to say that decisions can change games and maybe Billericay would have been down to eight or nine men on another day, while Shane Tolley would have got his penalty at Slough, and that would have given us the chance to go 1-0 up.

Of course I am disappointed that we lost at Slough; but remember, we were away at the team who are currently - as I write, anyway - top of the table. It was never going to be an easy match for us down there.

We had our chances though - maybe eight good ones - and we hit a post, and then there was the possible penalty…

On another day we could have come away from Slough with all three points. We certainly didn't get battered.

On Tuesday night I was able to welcome back both Adrian Sear and Junior Konadu. - so we have strength in our midfield again and this should help us going forward.

Adrian should have recovered to play on Tuesday night; but as I write this we are still a few hours away from kick-off, so I maybe shouldn't be temping fate. But Junior returns after a couple of weeks away following his decision to leave us and go on trial with Bournemouth.

We always said we would welcome him back if things didn't work out and unfortunately the trial fell through and didn't happen.

The manager there is under pressure and what with one thing and another Junior decided to return to us and we are more than happy about that.

Let's look forward now, not backwards...
