But Rovers boss has promotion aim next term

A 'FAILURE' is how Godmanchester Rovers' boss David Hurst marks his side's season - but vowed that next term his side will be vying for one of the three Ridgeons League First Division promotion spots.

Hurst was speaking after his side's 3-0 win over Fakenham Town at Bearscroft Lane on Saturday, which they earned thanks to goals from Tom Moran, Carl Foreman and Del Ray.

"Our aim was to be right up there come the end of this season," said Hurst

"That's the most disappointing thing for me as the manager and is probably my failure.

"But we've already got one eye on next season now - in order to try to get ourselves a bit of a head start on everybody.

"As well as securing our players for next season - there are two or three others we want to bring in - and then we can start planning for a promotion push for next year."

Rovers have five games left of their current campaign, starting with a home fixture against Ipswich Wanderers on Wednesday night followed by a trip to Swaffham Town on Saturday.
