Godmanchester Rovers overcame the dismissals of two players to stage a sensational Thurlow Nunn Premier Division comeback last Saturday.

Tom Moran and Taylor Parr both saw red early in the second half with their team trailing to Brantham Athletic at Bearscroft Lane, but hot-shot Tom Meechan starred in a stunning turnaround as promotion-chasing Rovers ran out 2-1 winners after grabbing two goals in the dying moments.

Meechan earned the penalty from which James Hall levelled before firing the winner after a Jamie Allsop corner.

Co-boss Neville Nania said: "A lot of teams would have given up in that situation, but we staged a remarkable fightback. That result is about total character and desire. We have a great bunch and we are exactly where we need to be going into the new year."

Rovers are three points behind leaders Norwich United ahead of their final outing of 2014 at Ely City on Saturday.

St Ives Town were out of action last weekend but host Royston Town at ProEdge Westwood Road in their final Southern League Division One Central game of 2014 on Boxing Day.
