ST NEOTS' new signings failed to impress as they slumped to defeat by third from bottom Bourne Town at Rowley Park on Saturday. Steve Lomas' starting 11 saw just two faces from predecessor Marvin Johnson's team and it was shown in a lack of team cohesion. Saints still took the lead after 10 minutes when Peterborough United academy player Luke Abraham volleyed in a Keith Thomas cross. The visitors drew level five minutes later when Miles Hunter fired home from 25 yards after their first real attack. St Neots pressed back to reply but Sam Kirton cleared Abraham's shot off the line. Wakes were quick to counter and took an 18th minute lead, Hunter beating Lee Crockett with a header from Owen Smith's cross for his second. Bourne went further ahead after 34 minutes, with Gary Walters catching Crockett out with a 30 yard free kick to make it a convincing 3-1 at the interval. Things got worse for the hosts five minutes after the restart when Hunter punished Sylvain Legwinski's slip to complete his hat trick. There was still plenty of time for Saints to respond, and Abraham gave them hope with a 63rd minute goal. After 80 minutes Josh Sozzo scored at the second attempt to reduce the deficit to one and give the hosts a chance. Ex-Premiership star Legwinski almost drew them level when he hit the post three minutes from time but the visitors held on for their sixth win of the season. St Neots have now won just one and lost four league games since Steve Lomas was appointed as their new manager. They next travel to Rothwell Corinthians tomorrow (Tuesday) before hosting Daventry Town on Saturday.
