UCL Division One Huntingdon Town 2 Olney Town 2 HUNTINGDON'S fighting spirit was on show on Saturday when they snatched a point with a 75th minute equaliser after going 2-0 down against bottom club Olney. However, Martyn Ray, Huntingdon's manager, will regard it as two points lost with the club trying to avoid the relegation places. In a closely contested first half, Olney took the lead when Danny Wilkinson slipped the ball home 10 minutes before the break. Things went from bad to worse for Huntingdon as Wilkinson snatched his second with the second half just six minutes old. The host's were thrown a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty on 70 minutes - Paul Bass made no mistake from his spot kick. The home side were showing more urgency and it was little surprise that they grabbed an equaliser - Gary Marheineke found space among the defenders to slot home. Huntingdon Town chairman Hans Reif said he was impressed with the way his side rolled their sleeves up to battle back. "The team showed great character to hit back for an equaliser and by the final whistle Olney were hanging on. With a little more luck we could have taken all three points".
