EYNESBURY ROVERS 0-1 STEWARTS & LLOYDS || A LATE goal knocked Eynesbury Rovers out of the first round of the Knockout Cup on Saturday at the hands of UCL Premier champions Stewarts and Lloyds. But the visitors, last year's cup finalists, had to wait until three minutes from time, when Michael Byrne reacted first to a rebound to slot home the winner. Rovers boss Matt Plumb made just one change from the side that lost at Irchester the previous week, with Ricky Taylor replacing Craig Lanham. Neil Morris had an early chance for Rovers, but shot wide with the visiting goalkeeper struggling. The two teams cancelled each other out for much of the opening half hour, but Joe Jordan wasted Rovers' best chance to take the lead when he ballooned his shot wide after 30 minutes. The game opened up after the break and again Jordan squandered a goalscoring opportunity as his touch let him down. Lee Garvie came on for S&L and within minutes he forced a low save from Rovers keeper Ben Houseago, now the busier of the two goalkeepers. In an attempt to win the game Rovers brought on Darren Woodend for Paul Knowles, switching Ian Dawkes from defence to attack, yet could not make the breakthrough. The only goal of the game came with just three minutes remaining, as substitute Garvie struck the post, and Byrne pounced to shoot home, and send his team through to a meeting with Newport Pagnell.
