FOOTBALL matches across Huntingdonshire were postponed at the weekend as Arctic weather left pitches frozen.

In the UCL Premier Division, St Ives Town vs Northampton Spencer and St Neots Town vs Stewarts and Lloyds Corby were both postponed. Out of 10 games scheduled for Saturday, only one went ahead.

In Division One, all six scheduled games were postponed, including Eynesbury Rovers vs Daventry United and Huntingdon Town's trip to Northampton Sileby Rangers.

The Peterborough League was also affected by the big freeze with only three games going ahead, the Kershaw leagues had two only games on Saturday whilst the Ridgeons League had no games scheduled.

David Mayes from the Ridgeons League said: "To date we don't have a major problem and with a slice of luck most of the teams should get the backlog quickly sorted out. It might be different if we have another two or three weekends ruined by the weather".
