More than 500 footballers graced the One Leisure Outdoor Centre last weekend as the second annual St Ives Rangers Football Festival proved to be a roaring success.

A hundred teams from across four counties took part in the two-day event which catered for a dozen age brackets.

"I quickly lost count of how many parents, coaches and (most importantly) kids told us they enjoyed themselves," said Al Badcock, chairman of the tournament committee. "It was an amazing weekend of football."

There was success for the host club in the Under 10 (9-v-9) and Under 11 boys' competitions while Huntingdon Rowdies Green provided another local triumph in the Under 10 bracket.

St Ives Rangers chairman Ed Goodman said: "Every child and coach who took part it a fantastic feast of football. I couldn't be more proud about how the weekend went and we can't wait to do it again next year."
