United Counties League Division One Eynesbury Rovers 0 Daventry Town 1 EYNESBURY'S failure to convert chances into goals cost them again as Daventry Town won 1-0 at Hall Road on Saturday. Ben Houseago and Stuart Harper were suspended for this match and they were replaced with Danny Workman and Gavin Clark. In an evenly contested first half both sides created goal scoring opportunities. As early as the second minute a Neil Morris shot for Rovers was held by the visiting goalkeeper whilst Craig Smith cut in from the left to set up James Dove but he shot wide. At the other end Danny Workman was called into action and he saved a Tom Berwick shot from 18 yards before tipping a Danny Finlay header over the bar. He also denied Luke Walker. Rovers hit back as Craig Smith's shot was tipped behind by Tom Consentino. Ricky Taylor found himself inside the penalty area but shot over the bar after his first shot was blocked by a defender. However, in the 37th minute the visitors scored the only goal of the game. Rovers defence failed to cut out a low cross from the left and Matt Consentino slid the ball home from 6 yards. Four minutes later Ricky Taylor's shot bounced in front of the goalkeeper and he pushed the ball out for a corner kick. From that kick Neil Morris headed wide of goal. After the break Daventry had the better of the play. Adam Confue had his effort blocked by Taylor whilst Danny Finlay headed wide of goal. Rovers responded through Scott Kingsbury who saw his two shots blocked whilst Ian Dawkes and Neil Morris brought saves out of the visiting goalkeeper. Rovers' last chance came to Lawrence Revell but he headed the ball over the bar from a Scott Kingsbury free kick. Ten minutes from time new signing Adam Hawes made his debut, coming on for James Dove.
