HUNTINGDON Town have clinched the loan signing of Algeria Under-20 international midfielder Alan Haine, from Peterborough United. Haine, 17, joins Town on a one-year loan deal from Peterborough's youth set-up. The youngster, formerly of MK Dons, has previously trained with the Posh first team and will represent Algeria at the 2007 African Nations Cup. Huntingdon manager Paul Swannell said: "Alan is a central midfielder with a lot of talent. He needs to beef up a bit but he's got international pedigree and is a great signing for us." Dave Robertson, Head of Youth at Peterborough United, said: "Alan is being allowed to move for a year as part of his development. "We'll be keeping a close eye on him while he is at Huntingdon with a view to him becoming more involved with the first team set up next season. We wish him well for his year on loan." Meanwhile Swannell has been busy in the transfer market, with a number of other new signings putting pen to paper. Joining Town for the new season are ex-Wisbech pair Luke Weston (striker) and Adam Bevilacqua (midfielder), March striker Ryan Francis, former Stevenage Borough midfielder Rhys Lawrence and defensive midfielder Paul Turner. Swannell said: "I'm very pleased that we've now got the backbone of the squad in place although we're still looking to make two or three signings." Huntingdon travel to Bedford United on Saturday (July 22) for a pre-season fixture before three home friendlies against Hoddesdon Town (August 5), Stevenage Borough Academy (August 9) and Langford United (August 12). Town kick off their United Counties League Division 1 season on August 19 with a trip to Peterborough Northern Star.
