Godmanchester Town staged a successful first junior football tournament last weekend.
The two-day extravaganza at the David Wilson Homes Ground involved 117 teams, who took part in a five-a-side format across nine age groups.
And the event came complete with a victory for the host club as their ‘Red’ side triumphed at Under 14 level.
They weren’t the only local team to triumph as Huntingdon Town Rowdies Under 11s and St Neots Town Sky Under 12s also tasted success.
Godmanchester Town chairman Richard Cosbey said: “It was a huge task to put on our first tournament, but we’re absolutely delighted with the way it went.
“We were blessed with two days of wonderful weather and we received plenty of really pleasing feedback.”
Other winners were Burton Band Under 9s, Corby Kingswood Under 10s, Netherton Red Under 13s and Leverington Black Under 15s, while the Under 7 and Under 8 sections were non-competitive.
