Eynesbury Rovers 3, Blisworth 1

EYNESBURY Rovers completed the double over Blisworth in an eventful game at Hall Road.

Peter Collins struck twice to maintain his goal a game average while there was a sending off and a late penalty miss to add to the drama.

Manager Dean Shipp was happy with the three points, but urged his side to finish teams off.

"The performance was good but we just have to learn to take our chances and really kill teams off.

"If they had scored that penalty late-on and we had ended up with just a point, I really wouldn't have been happy," added Shipp.

Rovers should have taken the lead after 13 minutes when Collins delivered a low cross from the left into the six yard box but Paul Carey somehow managed to put his shot over the cross bar.

However, seven minutes later, Collins took advantage of a defensive mix-up to give the hosts the lead.

Ricky Taylor played the ball through the centre only for Tom Bland to head the ball past his own goalkeeper and Collins slotted the ball into an open goal.

Things went from bad to worse for Jamie Denny in the Blisworth goal as he was sent off after 33 minutes for handling the ball outside the penalty area, denying David Fisk a clear goalscoring opportunity. Sam Scarman went in goal for Blisworth coming on to replace Coleman.

Just five minutes into the second half, Blisworth drew level. A free-kick from deep on the right was delivered into the penalty area and Hamish Carmody had the simple task of prodding the ball home from close range as Rovers defence failed to deal with the ball.

Eynesbury regained the lead after 67 minutes when Carey's cross from the right was headed past the stand in keeper by the impressive Collins.

Rovers created more chances but Stuart Harper, Stuart Humphreys, David Fisk and Collins were all denied by Scarman before Blisworth were handed a late lifeline.

With just a minute left, they were awarded a penalty kick after Carl Albone had handled inside the penalty area.

Fortunately for Rovers Jason Bradshaw blasted the spot kick wide of goal. In stoppage time, Mark Garwood came on for Collins and scored Rovers third goal with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Daventry Town 1, Huntingdon Town 1

HUNTINGDON general manager Mick Hunt was pleased with his side's performance against Daventry, as they claimed a point at the Northamptonshire club.

The visitors took an early lead after five minutes, when Paul Bass thumped home a Carl Foreman cross, following a well-worked corner routine.

Huntingdon looked comfortable but the hosts levelled just before the break, when Paul Atkins smashed home a free-kick.

The visitors had the better of the chances after the break, but just couldn't edge in front.

As the game moved towards its conclusion, Atkins saw red after a clash with Town defender Tom Moran, who was also dismissed for his part in the flare-up.

"The team is definitely going in the right direction and I was pleased with the performance," said Hunt, whose team now return to Jubilee Park for four home games in succession.
