Ridgeons League Division One

Stanway Rovers 6 Godmanchester Rovers 0

THIS was Godmanchester's heaviest defeat of the season against the current league leaders.

Rovers went behind after three minutes and were 3-0 down at the break.

The second half was a much better affair with Godmanchester competing and taking the game to Stanway without really threatening to score.

However, Stanway scored three goals in the last 20 minutes to seal the win, despite Rovers producing a much improved display after the break.

Hunts Sunday Senior Cup Semi-Final

Riverside Rangers 4 King's Head 1 (aet)

CUP-HOLDERS Riverside Rangers claimed their place in the final after beating King's Head after extra-time in a thrilling last-four clash.

The hosts took the lead when Steve Thompson pounced on a neat through ball before firing a 30-yard screamer on the half an hour mark.

Riverside held the lead until stoppage time at the end of the second half when, in the sixth minute of added on time, King's keeper Smith rose like a salmon and nodded home a dramatic equaliser to send the tie into extra-time.

Rangers did not let the last-gasp equaliser get to them and within 60 seconds of the restart, Barry Thompson was brought down from behind in the box.

The cool-headed Carl Foreman held his nerve from the spot to give Rangers the lead once again.

The hosts then went further ahead when Steve Thompson threaded a peach of a pass through to Barry Thompson and he found the net from six yards out.

The game was then wrapped up when player-manager Tony Jeffries put Steve Thompson through and he rifled home the fourth to seal the win.

Kershaw Senior A

Soham Town Res 0 Needingworth United 5

NEEDINGWORTH extended their lead at the top of Senior A to 15 points, with Wisbech Town Reserves not having a game at the weekend.

United took the lead when Scott Fielding latched onto a Chris Parker cross and made no mistake from just inside the box.

Joe Thompson then doubled United's advantage when he was put through by a clever Martin James pass on the half hour.

In the second half, Needingworth looked very lively and they added a third just after the restart when Steve Robson fired home from close range.

Alex Irvine then went close for Soham but Olly Verrall added United's fourth from the penalty spot after Mark Joyce was brought down in the area, before Robson notched his second, heading home a Fielding cross to wrap up a good all round performance.

BIS Division 5A

Papworth Res 3 Bottisham 1

Jamie Mingard, who had scored Papworth's third, was dismissed with just two minutes remaining for violent conduct, but the hosts hung on for the three points, thanks to further goals from Alan Rowland and Lewis Gotch.

Creake Shield Round Three

Littleport Res 1 Needingworth Res 0

Semi-Final 1

Crown and Pipes 1 Catworth 0

CROWN progressed to the final of the competition with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Catworth, courtesy of an Andy Wilkshire spot-kick.

After the break, Catworth piled on the pressure but it was the Crown who took the lead with Wilkshire's penalty after MoM Adam Buckingham.

Semi-Final 2

BRJ Reserves 3 Watertight Wanderers 4

THE tie was switched to Watertight's ground due to unplayable conditions at BRJ, and Wanderers took full advantage to reach the final.

The new hosts took the lead with a shot from Matt Hancock before the same player doubled their advantage 10 minutes later before BRJ opened their account.

Watertight were then awarded a penalty and Richard Thornton made no mistake from the spot.

BRJ pressed for a goal and were rewarded just before the break with a shot from the edge of the box before they equalising early in the second half.

However, substitute Rostand Ngue sent Wanderers through when his shot evaded the keeper late in the game.

Ridgeons Eastern Counties Youth League West Division

Hitchin Town U18s 7 St Neots Town U18s 2

SAINTS suffered their heaviest defeat of the season, despite leading twice on what was an awful playing surface.

Following good build-up play, Shane Moloney gave the Saints the lead only to see the home team snatch an equaliser within minutes. However, Saints won back the lead when Ben Cole showed great strength to hold off two defenders to score. Hitchin then replied with another equaliser right on half time following some sloppy play in the Saints defence.

The pace of the game stayed at a very high tempo for the second half and Hitchin went ahead for the first time in the game before wrapping the game up with four late goals.

FC Polska 3 Sapley Rovers 3

IN an end-to-end game, Sapley played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Polish side, FC Polska.

The visitors took the lead when Lukasz Pelc ran through Rovers' defence and finished well.

The hosts were soon back on level terms when captain Rikki Marr scored from the spot to make the score 1-1 at the break.

Rovers got their noses ahead in the second half when Steve Peck found the net after a good flick by Owen Jones.

However, Polska equalised from the spot through Sylvester Glaz and then went ahead when Arek Tchorek took advantage of some soft defending from the home side.

However, Rovers weren't done and Dave Brooker lashed the ball home to make the scores 3-3.

Eastern Premier League

Royston Town Ladies 1 Peterborough Ladies 3

ANOTHER three points for Peterborough moves them ever closer in their bid to be crowned Eastern Premier League champions.

A brace from Clare Knibbs and a solo strike from Pauline Marek was enough to earn victory for the heavily-depleted ladies on a boggy pitch.

The deadlock was broken when PoM Clare Knibbs played a one-two with Nicholls before lifting the ball over the keeper with a cheeky lob.

However, a long ball from Royston caught Peterborough on the hop and they levelled with a low drive past Everall.

Immediately from kick-off, Peterborough restored the lead when Nicholls picked out Marek and she outpaced the defence to steer the ball home.

The visitors continued to press forward and were rewarded with their third when Stacey Shinn picked up a rebound off the Royston keeper and shrugged off two challenges to set-up Knibbs for her second.
