ST NEOTS Hockey club raised £400 for charity by holding a game in memory of Allan Knox Senior.

Mr Knox died of cancer in October last year, and a game was held on Sunday morning that saw current and past members of the club participate at the St Neots leisure centre to raise the money for Cancer Research.

The game saw Mr Knox's son, Allan Jr, score in a mixed gender game as his red team beat the blue team 4-1.

"Allan [Knox junior] has been playing here for 18 or 19 years after starting as a colts player," said club secretary Gay Jackson, who played on the blue team.

"His Dad was always here supporting him and everyone remembers him and the club felt we should do something to help and to remember him.

"We were allowed to use the pitch for free, so all the money we raised from match fees and collections was able to go straight to the charity.
