A GOLD and bronze medals were won by two Huntingdon-based athletes at the South of England Under 20s Athletics Championship at the weekend.
In the scorching conditions at Crystal Palace, Chloe Edwards finished way ahead of the field in the shot putt, reaching 13.20 metres to take the gold medal.
Edwards also took bronze in the discus where, with a distance of 39.78 metres. She set her personal best and a new Huntingdon Athletics Club record.
Seventeen-year-old Andrew Bullimore, also of Huntingdon Athletics Club, had a successful day. Competing in his first year in the under 20 age group, he won the bronze medal in the long jump and reached the final of the 200m, where he achieved a personal best of 22.39 seconds and finished in eighth place.
