A FIRST half goal from Mark Gallagher secured Fenstanton the Hunts Benevolent Cup – their first trophy since 2006 - after a 1-0 win over CSV United in the final last week.

Gallagher headed home a Salv Merola corner 20 minutes into contest which proved decisive and saw Fenny exact revenge on United, following their Hunts Junior Cup semi-final loss two months ago.

• NEEDINGWORTH UNITED recorded a superb 3-0 win at Girton United to climb away from the relegation zone in Kershaw Senior A League.

The visitors dominated the opening half and, despite the heroics of the home keeper to deny Mark Joyce, it was Mbonisi Nyathi who capitalised on a defensive mistake to tap into a empty goal to open the scoring during the first half.

The second half saw Chris Havard double the advantage with fierce low shot before Needingworth keeper Paul Blackman then pulled of a great penalty save to keep the lead intact.

And, in the final minute, Mark Joyce’s pace beat the offside trap and he rounded the keeper to score and secure a vital three points.
