Elsewhere Dan Tozer, fencing sabre, travelled to Normandy for the annual Rencontre International D’Escrime de la Manche at Periers, where he won the bronze medal.

Edward Sage competed in the Saxon Fencing Club Novice open held at Acton, where he fenced from a low seeding all the way to the final to take the silver medal.

Last weekend Matt Dalton, Ivan Ward and Tim Bissell took part in the Eastern Region Epee at Ipswich.

Bissell was ranked number six after the seeding rounds and went out in the quarter-finals to hold his position in sixth.

Ward fenced from a low seeding into the last eight before going out to the defending champion.

Dalton, meanwhile, fenced undefeated through the seeding rounds to be number one seed for the direct elimination.

He had no problems making his way to the final against Stephen Domek.

The final was only decided on the last hit, Dalton coming out victorious 15-14 to become Eastern Region Epee champion.
