Two Hunts AC men are on international duty this weekend.
Ty Farrer and Derek Darnell represent England Masters as they take on a Celtic Nations team in the Chester Marathon on Sunday. Farrer runs in the M40 age bracket while Darnell competes in the M55 bracket.
Farrer has warmed up for the big event with some fine performances in recent days.
He won the veteran men’s title at the club’s 10,000m championships by knocking more than a minute off his personal best.
Farrer’s time of 33.28 also slashed 36 seconds off the club record which had belonged to Hugh Barnfather and stood for 36 years.
Farrer also finished third in the Tissington Trail Half Marathon in 1:12.43.
David Hudson won the Hunts AC 10,000m event by breaking his personal best on the track with a 32.47 effort.
He then added yet more success to his collection when triumphing in the NSPCC Milton Keynes Half Marathon.
Representing Huntingdon BRJ Run & Tri, Hudson powered to glory in the Buckinghamshire race, which attracted a field of 393 runners, in a fine time of 1:11.29.
There were also fine performances from BRJ members in other events last weekend.
Harrison Evans finished sixth in the Grantchaster Charity 10k with a personal best of 38.37 with clubmate Mark Jackman not far behind in 12th position in 39.58. Both men took fourth place in their respective age groups as well.
Elsewhere, Neil Jarvis finished fourth in his M40 age category at the Saffrom Striders Five Mile race in Essex.
His 31.29 time was also good enough for 16th place overall out of 187 runners.
Guy Forster and Dan Ainscow both tackled the Robin Hood Half Marathon. Forster finished in 178th place in 1:29.02 with his fellow BRJ entrant Ainscow crossing the line in 2:16.10 to take 3308th position.
* Young Hunts AC talent Willow Bedding has improved her own Under 13 Girls discus record by more than half-a-metre.
She produced a 27.65m performance in the Kettering Open Throws Meet to consolidate her seventh position in the national rankings for that event.
