EATON Socon CC enjoyed a marvellous opening weekend to the 2011 season with all of their teams recording victories.

The first team got off to a flying start in Rutland Division Two with a 95-run defeat of Stewarts & Lloyds on Sunday.

An opening stand of 116 between Matt Rawling (51) and captain Terry Day (117no) laid the foundations for Socon’s 264-5.

Corby were always behind the required run rate and were eventually bowled out for 169 with Ryan Brown taking 3-25.

Socon seconds enjoyed a seven-wicket victory over Warboys seconds in Rutland Division Six.

Warboys, who won the toss and batted first, posted 160-9 before Eaton knocked off the runs for the lost of just three wickets, finishing on 164-3, with Brad Dickerson unbeaten on 40.

In Hunts Division Four on Saturday, an unbeaten 105 from Joe Donnelly inspired Socon thirds to a comfortable victory over Brampton.

Number five Donnelly dominated his 120-run stand with Adam Newman (24no) as they reached 214-6 having elected to bat first.

Andy Canham was the pick of the Brampton bowlers with 4-42 – and then looked good with the bat – but his 30 could not save Brampton as they could only muster 144-8.
