DEFENDER Dallas Moore put pen to paper at The Hunts Post Community Stadium at the back end of last week – but hinted he had his heart set on joining St Neots Town from early December.

The 20-year-old American centre-half, who started his career at Grimsby Town, joins the Saints from Zamaretto Southern Premier Division outfit Halesowen Town, where he was club captain.

Highly-rated Moore was part of a Yeltz side beaten 4-1 by St Neots in a friendly just before Christmas and was impressed by what he saw.

He told The Hunts Post this week: “We played against them (St Neots) in a friendly not so long ago and I just remember being so impressed with the style of football that they play and the players they have.

“The professionalism and the style of the football was a big draw for me.”

Manager Dennis Greene was delighted to secure Moore’s services, saying: “We heard that Dallas may have been available and heading to a Conference side.

“But, with the prospect of more than two games a week between now and the end of season becoming a reality, and Adam Jones and Lewis Christon being some way off full fitness, we needed to add cover to the squad, so moved quickly to get our man.

“It’s a great signing for us, he’s a winner and he’ll head and kick everything – but he’s got good quality as well.”

Moore didn’t feature in Saturday’s FA Vase tie at Gresley – but instead got 90 minutes under his belt in the Reserves’ 6-0 win against Wellingborough Town. He was also set to make his first team debut in the UCL Premier home match against Yaxley last night (Tuesday).

“I’m hoping to get into the starting line-up, that’s my goal and play as much as I can,” said Moore.

“I want to play at the highest level I possibly can, that’s why I came over to England and that’s why I’m still here.

“It was definitely hard to leave Halesowen as I had a lot of ties with the club and there are a lot of great people there.

“I had been training at Histon, but St Neots are a club that seems to be going in a good direction and there’s a winning mentality,

“It just seemed like a good move and the best one for my career to progress at this point in time.”

The move to Saints will see him once again link-up with namesake and ex-Halesowen team mate Stefan Moore.
