HUNTINGDON Indoors Bowls Club is hoping to encourage a new generation of bowlers to take up the game at a club open day on Sunday, June 13.

The event, held at the club's base in St Peter's Road, will run from 10am to 4pm, and offers bowlers of all ages the chance to try the game for free.

The club is looking to expand its junior section, and has seven qualified coaches.

Huntingdon IBC's Graham Taylor said: "This is a great chance for anyone interested in trying indoor bowls to come down to the club and give it a go.

"They can discover what the game is all about, and find out if they are interested in joining the club.

"We're looking to encourage our junior section, the way that some other clubs have, so that we can be ready for the new season in September.

"If players enjoy the taster sessions, they will have the option to join the club and sign up for further coaching."

Huntingdon IBC operate roll-up sessions on Tuesdays at 9.30am, and Wednesdays at 6pm, when anyone is welcome to attend. The only requirement is flat shoes or carpet slippers.
