STAN Binge was part of the England Veterans squad at Barston Lake in Solihull last Saturday.
Teams were made up of one angler from each of the full England teams - U18, U22, Ladies, Disabled, Veterans and Carp Match - coming together to form mixed teams to compete under international rules.
As the fish shoaled up, the eventual result was a very close contest with three teams tied in first place. After a countback, Stan's team, including five-time world champion Alan Scotthorne, were declared the winners thanks to youngster Tom Maker's top carp weight.
Stan is hoping to be selected for the Veteran World Championships in July, and has two practice weekends to make his way into an already strong squad.
