A HIGH class field of 18 anglers were present for Saturday's match with anglers keen to secure their places in the final in July. It was Keith Ellington who was the eventual winner with 43lb 6oz from peg seven with Ricky and Steve Ashwell taking second and third spots. Norman Wilson was fourth from peg 16 and Graeme Worker fifth. Stan Binge had an eventful and amusing though not very successful day in peg 29 when his cupping kit caught strong fishing line hanging from a tree on the island, detached from the pole and hung in the water all match.

NEWCOMER to the area Terry Hill has been doing well at Cromwell Lake and it was no surprize when he won last Wednesday's match with 35lb 12oz of almost all tench from peg 24. Terry also took one of the golden peg funds. Jason Roslyn on peg three was a very close second weighing in 33lb 4oz, and Geordie Best was third.

Grahams Pond
CRUCIANS and silver fish were the main constituent of the weights in Saturday's open match won by Steve Webb.

Horseshoes Spitfires B went through to the second round of the Plumb-It Challenge when their opponents Brampton Institute did not appear.

Headfen Lakes
THERE was a two-day bank holiday weekend event with anglers scoring points to decide the overall winner. Steve Jackson was the winner with a second place on Trevs Lake on Saturday and a third spot on Snake Lake on Sunday in a countback on weight between three anglers. Stanjay's Simon Easey broke the match record for Snake Lake with 194lb 12oz on Sunday but finished fourth overall just one point adrift.
