EIGHT athletes from West Anglian Orienteering Club gained the maximum 100 points by winning their respective classes at the final league event of the season.

David Cooper, David Cronk, Jonny Cronk, Mike Bickle, Rachel Pocock, Todd Cooper, Seonaid Dudley and Colin Curtis all topped the ton.

David Cooper’s excellent display in winning on the tough brown course was supported by Mike Capper (4th) and Stephen Borrill (8th).

Steve Hinshelwood, fresh from his success in the Mountain Marathon, and Gopal Chand finished fourth and seventh respectively on the black course.

Noreen Ives (3rd), Lewis Cooper (6th) and Owen Bourne (9th) put in great performances on the light green course with Jaya Chand and Laksmi Chand taking fifth and sixth on Orange course. Molly Pocock (3rd) and Edward Low (7th) gave the field a run for their money on the shorter yellow course.

A contingent from the club travelled to Broxbourne Woods, near Hoddesdon, and returned with two course winners.

Duncan Cooper on the yellow course and Thomas Louth, currently the club’s most successful competitor, on the short brown course.

At the same meeting, Steve Hinshelwood finished 5th on black, Rachel Pocock a brilliant second on Green, and Erica Fox finished fifth on white.
