HAJAC Pairs

SIMON Easy claimed victory in the annual winter pairs match, which was fished on a beautiful day at Decoy Lakes in Whittlesey.

It was a good day's fishing for most of those present but the best weights went to those who caught on sweetcorn.

Easy, fishing for Stanjay, won the individual match with a total weight of 70lb 0.5oz. He also took the pairs event with partner Brian Gibson, who finished equal fourth on his first visit to the venue giving them an unbeatable five points - well ahead of the opposition.

RESULT (Pairs): 1 Simon Easy/Brian Gibson Browning Stanjay 5pts, 2 Paul Hendy/Jon Hazelden 13pts, 3 Ian Chestney/Dave Rowell 17pts.

Individual: 1 Simon Easy Browning Stanjay 70lb 0.5oz, 2 Ian Chestney Wades MG 54lb 10oz, 3 Ricky Young Browning Stanjay 51lb 8oz.

Cromwell Lake

THE first sweepstake of the year was fished on Cromwell Lake on Saturday. Although the weather was lovely the cold overnight temperature had not helped the fish to spread out.

It was business as usual for Ricky Ashwell, who drew on peg nine and won with 21lb 6oz. Ray Myring was second and Steve Ashwell finished third.

Sweepstakes will continue for the remainder of February with the £1,000 series starting at the beginning of March.

RESULT: 1 Ricky Ashwell GOT Baits 21lb 6oz, 2 Ray Myring St Ives 15lb 4oz, 3 Steve Ashwell GOT Baits 14lb, 4 Keith Ellington 11lb 6oz.

Ramsey AS

SUNDAY'S club match was fished on the Narrows and the four pegs nearest to the bridge took the top places.

Paul Kilby, drawn next to the bridge, included a 4lb 14oz tench caught on a whip.

Only one ounce separated second and third positions, with Frank Bevilacqua finishing in front of Andrew Kilby.

RESULT: 1 Paul Kilby 14lb 15oz, 2 Frank Bevilacqua 13lb 6oz, 3 Andrew Kilby 13lb 5oz, 4 Kevin Peacock 8lb 3oz.

St Ives AS

AFTER the fantastic weights caught on Sunday 3, there were more members present for this week's match.

Unfortunately sub-zero overnight temperatures plus bright sunshine and the river flowing hard made conditions less than ideal for catching bream again.

Colin Leach won the match with 15lb 3oz, which included four bream, but he was the only one to snare any.

RESULT: 1 Colin Leach 15lb 3oz, 2 Tony McGregor 12oz.

Lawn Farm

THE result of the open match fished on Willow Lake on Sunday 3 was a win for Tom Cole from St Neots. Ian Palmer was second and Andy Pollard came third.

RESULT: 1 Tom Cole St Neots 35lb, 2 Ian Palmer St Ives 26lb 8oz, 3 Andy Pollard Luton 24lb 8oz.

The conditions were very windy for the Golden Rod match last week which was won by Keith West in a close contest with Mick Bolton and Bob Walker.

RESULT: 1 Keith West St Neots 15lb 9oz, 2 Mick Bolton Melbourn 14lb 13oz, 3 Bob Walker Luton 13lb 1oz.
